Life as I know it

surprise, surprise

Well, my finals are Monday so once again I am reduced to procrastinating by whatever means possible and thus the old blog comes to mind. I thought I'd share some changes going on in my life - I feel like a new moon is rising or a paradign is shifting or something: tonight I switched my browser from explorer to mozilla-foxfire, my mail from outlook to gmail and my music downloads from kazaa to grokster. Big changes. Scary stuff. Oh yeah, and within the next coupld weeks I will be hopefully passing my first semester of medical school and starting my preceptorship where I will be seeing real patients clinically. Again, scary stuff. Should be interesting! Oh, and I officially broke down this week and downloaded 124 Christmas songs on the old ipod mini (which has been named, finally, Dominic, which, in case you didn't notice, has mini in it) so the season has officially begun. We were singing Christmas songs in the lab today and they have definately made it into the shower. The first step to overcoming a problem is admitting you have one, right? Well, I'm going to attempt to accomplish something this evening so that my night of downloads isn't a complete wash.

Here are some med school pics - our intramural softball team wins more (but drinks less :( then our beloved team crack. And you can see my fine depiction of Dr. Olga Malikova and my classmates as our other anatomy faculty at the post block II Holloween party. Good times :) Posted by Hello

Another month older and smarter

Well, I still suck at this - but I know you check this everyday babe so I thought I'd surprise you by actually posting.

I studied today for roughly 15 hours. In case you couldn't guess I have another block exam this Friday. (Isn't ironic that I only post in this thing during my busiest times?)

Anyhoo (sorry) I would like to chronicle my excitement for my soon to released Canon SD20 camera which should be winging its midnight blue 3.5in by 1.8in by .8in self to me in a matter of weeks. I am immensely excited.

In addition - I am so freakin ecstatic about my upcoming trip to NYC over New Year's, I can't even put it into words. I feel an incredible desire to be someplace that is innately inspiring and I can't think of a better one.

So after the exam Friday the 2nd years are throwing a Halloween party at which I will be dressed as our Russian anatomy professor, Olga, except as we have decided is necessary for any female Halloween costume of a 15-25 yo, a younger sluttier version. Someone quoted a guy on College Humor as saying "I'm going to wear angel wings, kitten ears and carry a pitch fork and be every girl at my school on Halloween" minus the skimpy leotard or whatever, of course.

Saturday I will be going to Halloween horror nights with a bunch of the kiddies from class, should be good times (and will not be studying for head and neck so it'll beat the crrap out of this weekend!).

In summary - My camera will be the messiah, NYC is the light at the end of the tunnel, no, I don't have an absentee ballot, yes I do suck at this, I miss my baby and I know waaaaaaaay too much about the head and neck.

And now its time for bed.

heart, me

yet another reason to feel inadequate

so... as it turns out I SUCK at the whole updating the blog on a regular basis thing. I go for long periods of time without feeling linguistically inspired and I spend most of my free time with dead bodies.

I am enjoying medical school. I made a consicous decision that I would enjoy medical school and I guess its working out. I don't want to be one of those people that's like, I want to be a doctor so I have to suffer through med school. No, this is the stuff we want to apply for the rest of our careers so we better enjoy learning about it, and I do. I am in this happy place where I am very excited about the knowledge I'm aquiring (for instance, did you know that the carpel tunnel is in fact a tunnel in the carpels? Isn't that brialliant?!?) and therefore am rather content with the process and my progress.

However, we have a test this Friday, and my pollyanna attitude does not strike the necessary fear into my heart that everyone else in my class seems to have masted that would be enough to motivate me to study the rediculous amounts that this test deserves.

Hear's a for instance... I am currently in the aptly named "blue room" (two blue walls and blue carpet) which is a mecca for studying here at the old UF-COM with a stringent noise policy where I have been since 7:15AM, but what am I doing? Composing my first blog of the last month.

Bottom line: if anyone wants me to test their rotator cuff function, name all the carpels or explain why the action hero would not be able to continue fighting after being shot in the arm (HELLO!! like that wouldn't destroy the Brachial Plexus?!?) you know where to find me. In the mean time, I will be trying to get scared for Friday and continue being very excited for the weekend (trip to NC - stay away IVAN) and becoming increasingly depressed over my horrible-ness as a blogger.

General update - Garden State rules, Starbucks are almost as cool as people think they are and yahoo internet "my station" is my new addiction (davika0 if anyone wants a listen).

OK, back to learning :-)
